Minor-I.T.: Empowering Black People in Information Technology

The tech industry is one of the most rapidly growing and lucrative industries in the world, yet black people are severely underrepresented. According to a 2019 report from the National Center for Women & Information Technology, only 3% of tech workers are African American. This lack of representation has created a huge gap in access to resources and opportunities for black people in information technology.

That’s why Minor-I.T., a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering black people in tech, is so important. Founded by two African American women, Minor-I.T. provides I.T. certifications, training, and counseling to help bridge the gap between black people and the tech industry. Through their programs, they equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the tech industry and provide them with access to resources that would otherwise be inaccessible due to systemic racism and inequality.

Minor-I.T.’s mission is to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive regardless of race or gender. They strive to make sure that everyone has equal access to resources and opportunities so that they can reach their full potential in the tech industry. By providing I.T. certifications, training, and counseling, Minor-I.T. is helping to level the playing field for black people in information technology and create a more equitable future for all.

At Minor-I.T., they believe that everyone should have access to quality education and resources regardless of race or gender identity. With their help, more black people can gain access to the tools they need to succeed in the tech industry and make a real difference in their lives and communities. So if you’re looking for ways to support black people in information technology, consider donating or volunteering with Minor-I.T.. Together we can create a more equitable future for all!
